Refractory materials as high temperature furnace building materials, mainly used in metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials and other industrial sectors, in which the amount of ferrous metallurgy accounted for 60% ~ 70% of the total amount of refractory materials, therefore, the development of refractory materials industry and the development of iron and steel industry are closely related. To improve the comprehensive properties of iron and steel materials and extend their service life is one of the main directions for the development of iron and steel materials in the future. Improving the smelting technology of pure steel is an important way to achieve this goal. Reasonable selection and correct use of high quality refractory materials is an important guarantee for smelting pure steel. According to the study of the author, we can see from the output of the two have a very similar evolution law: when the steel output increases or decreases, the refractory output also increases or decreases; And basically at the same time the peak value or valley value indicates that there is an obvious correlation between the two. The stability of steel has a great relationship, which affects the application and development of refractory materials. When the steel industry is stable, the refractory industry is stable and developing rapidly. When the steel industry is unstable, the economic depression, the corresponding refractory industry also declined, or even negative growth. The key point of the development of ironmaking technology is to increase the amount of coal injection in blast furnace. At the same time, the service life of blast furnace and hot blast furnace should be long (the service life of blast furnace is more than 12 years, and some of them reach 15 years), and the air temperature of hot blast furnace should be high (the average is higher than 1100℃, and the air temperature of large blast furnace reaches 1200℃). In order to meet this need, some research and development projects have been arranged, such as ceramic cup for blast furnace, hot charging material for blast furnace, castable material for high iron quantity and low creep brick for hot blast furnace. A large prefabricated block of corundum mullite has been developed and used in the hearth of a large blast furnace. After several years of application, it has been proved that the effect is good, and the temperature of molten iron has been raised by 10-15 degrees. At present, the hearth of many large blast furnaces has adopted the "ceramic cup" structure of this material. Progress has been made in the preparation of "ceramic cup" with S bonded corundum, and excellent bonded corundum sample blocks were synthesized by nitriding sintering. The developed blast furnace charging material can be sprayed under the hot condition of blast furnace. It can prolong the life of blast furnace. With the development of time, refractories have a lot of development. In the late 1950s, steel-making and continuous casting in China began to enter the stage of industrial production. The inner lining of tundish was made of clay brick or high aluminum brick masonry. Since the continuous casting production was just started at that time, the steel types of continuous casting were mostly ordinary steel, and the tundish was only used as the revolving container of molten steel. The working conditions of the inner lining of the tundish were not too bad, and the service life of the inner lining of the tundish was 5 ~ 12 furnace for continuous casting, which met the needs of the continuous casting production at that time.
